Cards on Monday

CardsMondayLogo

Hi everyone!  Hope the Dad’s had a great day!

Over the week end I watched some You Tube Videos.  As long or short as they can be, I adore learning new things to do with my cards.  I saw something that I wanted to try and then, share with all of you – a tag on a card.

6 June 17

Does Tim Holtz come to mind?  Yeah, it did with me too by the spritzing and blending with water for the tag base.  A very easy card – see supplies below for the supplies I used.

Thanks for stopping by~

Have you seen…

Have you seen Travel Girl by October Afternoon?

I fell in love with the soft colors and whimsical patterns the second I set eyes on it.  Maps, cameras, and other travel themes are interspersed with versatile polka dots, stripes, and grids.  I gravitated towards the blues and grays in collection, but the reds, greens, pinks, and oranges are just lovely, too!

I had some photos with a stormy sky in the background from a recent weekend trip, and I couldn’t resist using Travel Girl to document them.

Scrappy Wednesday: Teacher Thank You Cards!

Happy Scrappy Wednesday, everyone!!

We’ve officially arrived at the end of the school year!  This time next week, my kids and I will both be on Summer Vacation and we are SO ready to say goodbye to the morning routine, packing lunches and homework.  But, before we say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of the school year, we need to say goodbye to the kids’ teachers, thanking them for all they’ve done for our kids this year!  As a teacher myself, I know what it’s like to put all of your heart into your “kids” day after day.

Today, I want to share the cards I made for my kids’ teachers this year using the fantastic school themed collection from Little Yellow Bicycle, Head of the Class!  Inside each card will be a gift card, too!

For my daughter’s teacher:

For my son’s teacher:

I just love this line for making teacher gifts and cards!  Don’t you?

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Be sure to come back daily for great inspiration and the first look at our weekly sales!

Private classes – Did You Know?

PrivateClass

This is a picture of the 4 card techniques I’m teaching on Thursday for a group of 6 ladies who are lucky enough to be making cards all week at the Iowa Great Lakes! They have gotten together and will make the 1+ hour drive to Rock Valley to learn some new techniques! There is an emboss resist distress card, alcohol inks on embossed metal, gelatos, and watercolor stamps.

We schedule a number of different classes, however sometimes the timing doesn’t work out for you and your friends. We have the answer!!  Just call the store and we can schedule a time for you and 3 of your friends to take a class. Simple as that! We teach basic scrapbooking, taking sketches to completed layouts, Cricut 101, advanced Cricut, basic cardmaking, advanced cardmaking techniques (like the ones above), using your Cricut to make cards, and any of the technique tags we’ve done in the past. If there is another type of class you’d like to see us teach, let us know! We’re always open to suggestions. We want to know what you’d like to learn!

If there is a specific technique you would like to learn, or a specific tool you just can’t get to work right, we can help you with that too! Take your tool to the store and we’ll do a quick little demo for you.

Hi everyone!  I have a tiny little project today.  I loved the fun end result;

Finished Project

Isn’t it cute!  [I was inspired by a similar project on Pinterest]  Want to know how to make it?

Here is the photo tutorial:

Step 1Start with a piece of 4″ double sided designer paper  and a die. Fold in half

Step 2Tape die to the folded edge

Step 3Make sure the top of the die is past the folded edge. Cut as many as you want

Step 4I also flipped the paper to get a matching, but different pattern

Step 5Stamp cut out with stamp image. Punch a hole in the top

Step 6Thread with twine and you know have some totally adorable tags.

Finished ProjectI made extra for the gift recipient’s use- thank you notes, or just tags for her.

I hope you enjoyed the fun tutorial today.  I know I did :)

Thanks for stopping by~

Have you seen…

Have you seen Simple Stories 24/7 collection?

This might just be Simple Stories’ most versatile collection yet! The theme is everyday amazing, so you can use these papers to scrap everyday fun, mini trips, big vacations, and celebrations.  The colors are rich and gender neutral so you can use it to make the always tough masculine card :)   Lisa used this collection to scrap a 2 page layout from a trip to Sea World.

Don’t you just love how she tore a frame from back card stock for the outer edges of her layout? Lisa also used some washi tape to tack down dome of her photos and embellishments.  It’s a little detail that adds so much to the layout.

Check out 24/7 the next time you’re in the store or shopping on-line…you’ll find so many uses for this versatile line!
